Elegance Molders

When I've plucked this rose, I can't make it grow again; it will have no choice but to wither and die.

My most recent print, and my favorite of the first roll I shot. It was originally way underexposed, so I had to do quite a lot of contrast trickery to get to looking alright. Here's a part of that process.

I can, however, adjust the vibrancy and contrast of the rose to make it look all sorts of fancy.

Soft Needles

It's so soft, even the edges of the frame are soft!

Printed my first proper print today!

Our instructor didn't want us cropping the image for whatever reason. I like it. The soft edges add to the natural feel. And that depth of field is just scrumptious.

Making First Contact

After a week in photography class I'm finally starting to learn if I can take pictures!

Today we went into a dark room and developed some film, of which I have the first few samples. They're a bit hard to see and a few of them are pretty terrible, but I'll be posting the finished products from this roll when they're ready. In the meantime, have some blurry thumbnails!

From left to right, top to bottom: Bright thing. Less bright thing. Squiggly thing. Rubber thing. Metal thing. Leafy Thing. Brighter leafy thing. Stone thing. Steppy thing. Another leafy thing. Dark thing. Brighter thing. Griddy thing. Glass thing. Comby thing. Symbolic thing. Cylindrical thing. Another griddy thing, but different. Hanging thing. Dark leafy thing. Another dark thing. Biggish thing. Darker leafy thing. Different sort of stone thing. Darker different sort of stone thing. Broken thing. Broken thing but fixed. Darker broken thing but fixed. Pointy thing. Set of pointy things. Sky. Sky again.

Weave a Cardstock Web

Welcome to Design 3D! Where we cut up bits of paper and make them into things! On paper this class is a continuation of Design 2D, and the principles of gestalt and organization are to be carried over into a three-dimensional space. Right now we're basically just playing around with paper, though.

Here's a thing I made!

Pst. Hey you. Come a little closer...

That's it. A little closer. I have something I wanna tell you...

Wibbley wobbley woo.

Singing the Songs of the Unsung

...this is a cow......and this is a squid who has tried her entire adolescent life to gain the approval and affection of a father figure who has never really made himself available to her emotionally. Subconsciously she gave up on trying to please her father years ago, and now in her increasingly self-destructive search for attention she has turned to amateur pole dancing on odd-shaped poles. This is a cat...

They're all up for voting! Not totally sure how that happened, but I'm not complaining. Click each of the icons above to be taken to the voting page for that design. Vote well, vote often!

Safe and Sound

Hiss and Purr

I've been busy with class, but so far it seems like there are a lot of interesting things going on in these classes. I'm already working on some neat papercraft stuff in Design 3D that I'll probably have ready to post sometime today, but for now let's focus on the kitty drawings.

Ocelots in Minecraft scare creepers away, and this seemed like a nice, soft approach to this vicious game of avoidance and explosions. Also, I finally got my designs on the proper submission template and submitted them. There's a lot of weird stuff going on with Jinx's qualification process right now (for my three designs I've received three letters of rejection and two letters of acceptance) so I'll let you know when voting officially starts and I know exactly what's going on.

Here are my other two entries in proper t-shirt form. Kinda bums me out that they had such a limited selection of colors, but they all stand on their own.

Summer Semester Starting Shortly

Tomorrow I begin a set of summer classes, which will probably mean a lot more frequent updates.

Gonna be taking Design 3D and Photography.

Gonna take pictures of things.

Three-dimensional things.

Yeah.
